Instructions
Place the potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add a pinch of salt.
Bring to a boil and cook for 15–20 minutes, or until the potatoes are fork-tender.
Drain the potatoes well and return them to the pot for 1–2 minutes to remove excess moisture.
Add the butter and mash the potatoes until smooth.
Gradually stir in the warm cream (or milk) until you reach your desired consistency.
Season with salt and black pepper. Add garlic if desired.
Mix until creamy and serve immediately.
Tips for Perfect Mashed Potatoes
Do not add too much water or milk, as this can make the mash watery.
Use warm cream and butter for a richer, smoother texture.
Avoid overmixing, which can make the potatoes gluey.
